BENEFITS OF THE RIGHT LULLABY
Music has a lot of benefits, not just for babies but for people of all ages. It just does not get old. Here are some ways how baby sleep music positively affects your child:
1. It Soothes
Music has the ability to relax us. Even if babies are not able to talk yet, they do have ears for good music.
Take yourself for example. For sure, you feel lighter and better when you listen to your favorite songs. The same is true for babies.
2. It Has Therapeutic Effects
Baby sleep music also has therapeutic benefits. Studies show that it has something to do with facilitating proper weight gain.
As it relaxes the nerves, your baby is more likely to grow and develop accordingly. Your baby is too young to be stressed; so, music is the key!
3. It Improves Brain Function
Studies have also shown that music has something to do with enhancing cognitive function at any age. As your baby enjoys every beat, he or she gets a creative boost as well.
TIP: Even if they cannot speak or express themselves properly yet, babies can remember simple melodies— one way or another. They are able to recognize varying tunes and sounds, and this is how they start to build their language
4. It Helps Language Development
Babies are already pre-wired to learn music, just like how they are pre-wired to learn language. When they listen to music, they do not just develop a stronger musical pathway in their brain. They also develop language quicker than those who do not listen to music regularly.
TIP: When babies move to music, they learn words even faster. At the same time, they are likely to use more communication gestures. For example, they might hold a banana up to their ears and pretend like it is a phone. These simple gestures are affirmative. They indicate that your baby is making significant progress, being able to express himself or herself little by little. It goes to show that he or she is beginning to understand the world around him or her.
5. It Builds A Relationship
When you send your baby to sleep while playing or singing along to a lullaby, there forms a stronger connection between the two of you. It just could not be helped.
TIP: Accordingly, sharing music with someone releases oxytocin. This is the exact same hormone released when you are nursing your baby. It goes without saying that a special bond is formed over something as simple as music. So, you cannot really undermine the wonderful effects of music even if they are not really visible to the naked eye.
WHAT IS THE BEST BABY SLEEP MUSIC?
Babies prefer calming and soothing sounds. Since they have a special bond with us mothers even before they were out here in the world, they find women’s voices to be more relaxing. So, you should choose music with women singing voices. More often than not, they tend to connect with these kind of music more easily.
Instrumental music may also be the best baby sleep music for some babies. It helps send them to a peaceful sleep at night, even when there are no words involved.
TIP: When choosing the right baby sleep music, you need to observe closely how your baby responds to the tunes. If you notice that he or she likes it, then you should stick to those genres.
